Anupam Asthana

Mr. Anupam Asthana is a Professor of Practice – School of Engineering and Technology at BMU campus. Mr. Anupam has completed his BE Mechanical from BITS Pilani, M Tech from IIT Bombay and MBA from Manchester Business School UK. Prior to joining BMU, he was engaged with NMIMS University Mumbai as Associate Dean. With nearly three decades of professional experience in industry and academic institutions, Mr. Asthana has worked in diverse segments of Automotive, IT, Engineering R&D services, Manufacturing and Education. Having led start-ups, business operations, Engineering R&D and Information Technology functional areas in Senior Management roles, his professional experience spans from product development in engineering and research centres to setting up business units and managing profit centre operations for leading corporates like Tata, Eicher, AMW Motors and Siemens. He also served on Board of Directors at Indian subsidiary of an MNC product company. He managed multi-location centres for engineering services for clients in US and Europe with experienced teams in multidisciplinary areas of mechanical, software, electronic and control systems. He set up centres of excellence for leading Indian OEM and Tier companies in digital product development, industrialization, manufacturing and quality. In the roles of Vice President IT / CIO, he has managed enterprise business platforms for PLM, ERP, CRM, Business Analytics, Automation and IT infrastructure. With his focus on quality management, he has led initiatives in business process excellence and worked as lead auditor for ISO certifications in quality management systems across diverse industries.

His experience in academics include teaching, developing programs and courses, mentoring faculty and executive programs at NMIMS University Mumbai recently and Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in early career years. His interest areas include building start-ups, digital transformation, innovation and product development, business operations, data analytics and Industry 4.0 for enterprise value chain.
